Volvo V60

I am reporting an ongoing and worsening defect condition involving a Volvo vehicle that has displayed repeated power steering / steering failure warnings and is now also showing additional symptoms consistent with a possible turbo / emissions-related failure. The steering-related warnings have remained active and unresolved over an extended period. The vehicle has displayed dashboard warnings for “Power steering” and “Power steering failure,” and the condition has not been reliably corrected…

OTA update is never available on stated timelines. Requires going to the dealership to get updates.

The engine consumes an excessive amount of oil, requiring the addition of about one quart every few hundred miles. There are no visible external leaks, and the issue appears to be due to internal engine components such as piston rings allowing oil into the combustion chamber. Engine oil consumption issue. It was a known issue. Completed the recommended repair of the piston and rings. Have had constant issues since the repair. Looking for reimbursement for the repair. My engine fell under the guidelines to have the repair covered.

Me and my partners safety was put at risk when the vehicle’s high pressure fuel pump went out, shut the car down, and left us stranded in the middle of two lane traffic. What was scarier was how the vehicle couldn’t be manually overridden to shift into neutral to push the vehicle to safety away from oncoming traffic, since the gear is electronic. When driving at about 10mph in my kids daycare driveway on a downward slope towards the main road, I depressed the brake pedal to stop and the car did not slow down. A few feet before intersecting the main road, I depressed the brake pedal fully to the floor and the car panic stopped. No braking action happened until the brake pedal was fully depressed to the floor.

The contact owns a 2016 Volvo V60. The contact stated that after changing the engine oil, one week later the message Engine Oil Low was displayed. The contact later discovered the engine oil was low and the vehicle had experienced excessive oil consumption. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 185,000.

Volvo cars from 2014-2016 has oil consumption due to the bad piston rings design and the manufacturer don’t want to issue a recall for this problem, it’s a serious problem with these models
