2024 VOLKSWAGEN TAOS

Filed Jun 23, 2026

Since the first weeks of ownership, my 2024 Volkswagen Taos has exhibited a persistent brake system defect: loud metallic grinding/scraping/squealing noise when braking, vibration when braking, and sensation that brakes are not engaging properly. The defect affects both front and rear brakes. At approximately 9,000 miles, the authorized dealer found the left rear brake caliper stuck and worn out — replaced caliper, pads, and rotors. The problem recurred within 3 weeks. On the second visit…

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the engine seized. The contact stated that while attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be inspected; however, the failure was not duplicated. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; but the failure was not duplicated. The contact was informed that an…

The brakes have prematurely worn to 1mm at 20,000 miles. Volkswagen is aware and has issued a TSB regarding the premature wear, however they failed to notify us during the first 2 service appointments that the wear on the brakes were due to be replaced. I feel this was intentional as they did not want to replace under the TSB and they waited until the wear was too severe and past the TSB date. Volkswagen waited to tell my 17 year old daughter that the brakes were worn and needed replacement at…

Only when lighter weight adults are in the front seat - if they move around at all the airbag sensor goes off. Meaning the airbags won’t deploy if we get into an accident. Seems like a major flaw! Even if while they are moving around an alarm went off why would it not reset once the person stopped moving around? It stays off for sometime afterward and beeps constantly. This has happened repeatedly and was told to keep cell phones off the seats. Believe me, we make sure the phones NEVER touch…

My 2023 VW Taos Se has been diagnosed with head gasket failure. Denied “goodwill assistance.” I did state that VW has issued a TSB (TSB 15-23-01. I currently have 80,380 miles on the vehicle. Known engineering failure, not wear and tear.

2022 VOLKSWAGEN TAOS

The systems failing are electrical, engine, and fuel/propulsion systems. VW TAOS 2022 purchased Sept. 2023. Two weeks after purchasing the vehicle, I'm driving down the street and the vehicle began to lose power and start slowing down. It eventually cut off. About a week later, I experienced the same issue. I called the dealer and they had me to bring my car in. I was told that they couldn't find the problem, but that the car was misfiring. They repaired and returned it to me. As I…

The EVAP line has a fault, stuck open, affects nothing whatsoever. But has every single light on the dash on. It tells me the brakes don't work, the air bags don't work, the cruise doesn't work. Everything. The confusing thing is some things actually work and some don't. The brakes work, the cruise doesn't. The auto detection doesn't work. What's worse, you can't replace that part. No one sells it. This is absolutely horrendous and very dangerous.

I added a post last year at my 10k service stating my rear brake pads needed to be replaced. Update with my 20k service: rear brake pads AND rotors need to be replaced again. Rear brake pads down to 2 mm, front pads (original) still at 12 mm. This is a safety issues with financial consequences.

I own a 2024 Volkswagen Taos with 20,600 miles. At my scheduled 20,000-mile service on June 6, 2026, the dealership measured my rear driver side brake pad at 3mm while my front pads measured 10mm. This extreme difference in wear is consistent with the known premature rear brake pad wear issue VW acknowledged on 2022–2023 Taos vehicles and addressed with a warranty extension bulletin. My 2024 Taos was not included in that bulletin despite showing the identical problem. At only 20,600 miles, rear…
