2018 TOYOTA CAMRY

Filed Aug 24, 2026

I own a 2018 Toyota Camry SE with approximately 120,000 miles. The vehicle is equipped with the 2.5L engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. I have recently developed a noticeable whining noise from the vehicle's drivetrain during acceleration. The noise is most noticeable at lower speeds, approximately 10–60 mph, particularly when accelerating from a stop or at lower speeds. The noise becomes less noticeable or disappears when cruising at higher speeds. The noise is load-dependent. When I…

I'm not even sure this is the right form for this complaint, but it has to do with non-compliance from Toyota. It's the master window switch recall 12V491. I had to schedule 2 separate appointments for this vehicle at Florence Toyota (Florence, SC), only to have them tell me the first time that they didn't have the part, and the second time that it wasn't covered under warranty due to the vehicle having been issued a salvage title. This isn't a warranty issue, rather a safety recall that…

The transmission has begun failing, with less than 60,000 miles and a perfect maintenance record. While driving I noticed a whine while accelerating and it would go away when not pressing the accelerator. It also did not make the noise when in neutral. This is a known issue with the 2018 Toyota Camry and the manufacturer did not send out a notice, any type of additional support or maintenance recommendations to make customers aware.

The power panoramic sunroof is malfunctioning. The sunroof intermittently fails to open or close properly and may become stuck in the tilted/open position. The motor makes clicking/grinding noises, and the automatic open/close function does not consistently work. Multiple attempts with the switch are sometimes required, and the sunroof has become difficult or impossible to close. This creates a safety concern because the sunroof may remain open and cannot reliably be closed.
