Mitsubishi Outlander

Front driver seat belt does not retract and has caused damage to door. Vehicle is available for inspection. We are worried that the seatbelt will not function properly in an accident since is does not function properly now. No confirmation by dealer, going in next week for service, however, dealer representative did say on phone that Mitsibishi s don't have seat belt problems??? First noticed problem last winter when I noticed the dents in the door frame being caused by non retracting seatbelt.

2 issues contributed to accident: 1st - Vehicle did not go into Park when button on gear shift was pushed. Driver did not notice that vehicle remained in Drive and exited the vehicle. 2nd - Vehicle did not automatically engage the emergency brake/park mode it is designed to do when Vehicle is in drive and driver door opens. I took my outlander in on May 6 2026 for routine oil change , tire rotation, basic multi inspection to bruce walters service (same company i bought it from new 15 months ago).
