Safety Component Affected: BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA Description of the Safety Defect: The rearview camera system on my 2022 Ford Transit fails completely, displaying either a distorted image, a completely blank blue screen, or a black screen when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. This total loss of rear visibility creates a severe blind-spot hazard and an immediate risk of a back-over crash, especially given the large commercial dimensions of this van. History of Failed…

I’ve been dealing with some intermittent problems with my 2022 transit for a couple years now. Basically I’ll be driving on the highway and all the sudden I’ll lose gas control, and power braking and the dash displays a message that says “shift to neutral to restart vehicle”, battery icon flashes red and I have to coast to the side of the highway. The electronics in the car will still be working when I pull over but the battery is dead. If I shift to park my engine doesn’t turn over or make any…

Transmission, 6 speed, drops into 2nd gear locks up rear wheels. I was driving at highway speeds and the rear wheels locked up. My van skidded into another lane and almost caused an accident. My van has been down shifting for years but the rear wheels have never locked up. I shifted into neutral quickly to avoid an accident. I do not understand why this vehicle is not included in the recall. Ford has known of this problem and has done nothing for 10 years. I'm lucky my rear end did not blow…

2015 Ford Transit. While driving at approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle was at first humming loudly...thought initially it was a neighboring noisy car muffler, but the van starting shaking and vibrating abnormally. Upon decreasing the speed, a loud thumping noise from beneath the car was heard, then squeeling while debris was being left in the road behind, and finally a violent shaking that was almost impossible to pull over safely. The hill assist light was flashing on the dash. I towed the…

The Side sliding door does not come with a standard child safety lock. My Child got out of their seat (figured out how to unbuckle themselves) and was able to unlock and open the door while the vehicle was in motion. Luckily no one was hurt. However we do not have a way to prevent our [XXX] old from repeating the action. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Attempting to purchase a Midwest Automotive Designs, Patriot RV on Ford Transit chassis. The rear seat belts installed by the RV manufacturer for rear passenger seating have been removed but dealership refuses to replace them. The dealer is offering this vehicle for sale without required safety equipment. I believe this is a violation of DOT law ?

The contact's son-in-law owns a 2016 Ford Transit. The contact stated that while her son-in-law was driving at highway speeds, an abnormal, popping sound began to emit from the vehicle. The contact also stated that white steam began to emit from the engine as her son-in-law pulled over and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic performed an inspection and determined that the driveshaft flexible coupling had cracked which lead to transmission damage. Upon investigation,…
