I was driving in heavy traffic when I got a reduced power message. There was no where for me to go to get out of the traffic. This is the second time I've had this issue. I have already replaced the entire turbo several months ago. I took it to the dealer then. They attempted to fix it with just replacing part of it. It didn't fix. The cost to fix it at the dealer was more than I could afford so I took it to a different shop. All together it cost around $2000. Now it's happening again!!

This is not a new issue and has happened multiple times since the purchase of this vehicle. Multiple times while driving my 2024 Buick Encore GX, the entire instrument panel intermittently goes completely blank/black. All critical information disappears, including the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, and other indicators. On July 23, 2026, the transmission failed. I was driving for a weekend getaway (4.5 hrs from my home) and the transmission jerked extremely hard three times and I lost control of the car. I was driving through the mountains at 8pm. The RPM was in the red zone, even though my speed was fairly low. The car would not go into Park or Reverse. The mounting bracket welded to the front exhaust pipe (near the flex section) broke off due to weak factory welds. As a result tearing a hole in my exhaust pipe and potentially leading to exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin of the vehicle. In my opinion this defect should be addressed as a safety issue if not repaired.

Not long after I purchased my car, i noticed it was lacking power during takeoff and when driving uphill which forced my car to hit very high RPMs during normal use. I was driving on a Chicago expressway with my family when the tire pressure light came on, within 3 mins and before we could safely pull over the tire shredded and eventually the entire middle part of the tire came off and we were thankful there was a lot of traffic so we had to slow our speed because the inner part of the tire came off and it rolled to the side of the expressway. When the vehicle engages auto-off at a stoplight, the engine stalls when trying to reengage. The engine also struggles to engage from a manual start, sometimes needing to try starting the engine three or four times before it will turn on. Two Buick dealerships inspected the vehicle and confirmed GM has an open investigation on the issue and that there is currently no fix. They recommended disabling the auto-off in the meantime. There is no temporary fix for the manual ignition issue.

General Motors issued a Special Policy N202299080 covering 2014 Buick Encores. My 2018 Encore had the same issues and symptoms as this Policy. My concern is because of this known problem the crankcase can be pressurized causing oil leaks which could cause a fire. General Motors issued a Service Information Bulletin 19-NA-114 in May 2019 about involving 2013 to 2019 Buick Encores. This is a known issue for many models other than my vehicle. We noticed the paint bubbling on one of her doors on the car and took it to the dealership who took no accountability. Now the car is peeling in the back and we’ve also noticed the same car, same model and make on the road with the same paint peeling issues that there’s no formal recall as of yet and we are not getting any resolution with GM.
