On July 4th, 2026 we were driving home in a storm. The windshield wipers failed while in the automatic setting, completely shutting off, creating a safety hazard. We pulled to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. Afther the reboot they had resarted, but agian failed within ten minutes. We pulled over again giving the car more time to cool/reset and contacted BMWs internal SOS service. They could not hear due to the rain coming down on the car. Charging interrupted-failed. Unable to fully use EV. Dealer confirms issue & has EV for two weeks, BMW USA has been notified, no remedy offered.

Sunroof spontaneously exploded with no sign of impact

Entire car was bricked after a software update (03/2026.54). Even the gear could not be changed to neutral for placing on a tow truck. Nothing wrong with the batteries. After more than 12 hours, finally the engine powered on but the software failure notification sign would still not work, and car had to be towed to authorized service center for a clean software reinstall.

As I was easing my 2024 BMW i4 xDrive40 onto Church Street from a cross street on May 11, 2026, my car suddenly accelerated and crashed into the car in front of me. The acceleration was un-commanded. The dashboard turn signal indicators are blocked by the steering wheel unless I adjust the steering wheel to a very high position that makes driving unsafe. When the turn signals are on, there is no clicking noise like many cars have. I suggest that BMW update the vehicle software to allow the driver to adjust the location of the turn signal indicators within the digital dash display, or also include turn signal indicators in the heads-up display.

While driving my 2023 BMW i4, the vehicle suddenly displayed multiple drivetrain and chassis malfunction warnings shortly after charging the vehicle at a ChargePoint station. I was driving last night on the highway in a monster rainstorm in Long Island, NY. In a full monsoon the wipers stopped working stuck in the up position. I was leaving the parking lot at XXX downtown [XXX] around 12:30 a.m. with my passenger when the vehicle out of nowhere started throwing multiple errors and warnings.
