BMW X6

High risk for future accident and also happens to passenger very blinding bright light straight into eyes

The contact owns a 2022 BMW X6. The contact stated that while reversing at 5 MPH in the driveway, there was an abnormal dragging sound coming from the vehicle while turning the steering wheel. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered goodwill repair. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

My car was running normal and suddenly red warning lights came on and it said “engine overheated, pull over and turn off car immediately.” I did pull over but I was inside an interstate tunnel. I tried to give it a bit of gas to get out of the tunnel but the car would not power with pedal pressure at all. I had to get towed. After a diagnostic at BMW of Honolulu, the electric water pump had failed. No warning, no previous indications something was wrong.

I returned home from shopping at local store 15 miles away. Arrived home around 11:30pm on June 3. Unloaded groceries and sat down. Around 11:45pm-11:50pm heard yelling from outside that our car was on fire. My husband ran out and and seen flames coming from under hood of car. I called 911 and within a couple mins middle of hood was completely starting to melt and components were spraying fluid and popping pieces of metal and plastic were thrown everywhere. Vehicle experienced ongoing safety-related driver assistance system failures beginning at delivery. The vehicle initially could not be delivered due to unresolved windshield and sensor concerns affecting driver assistance features. After delivery, the vehicle continued experiencing intermittent failures involving adaptive cruise control, lane assist, cameras, and related driver assistance systems. I need a check up

On December 27, 2025, while using the vehicle’s Automated Park Assistant feature to reverse into my assigned parking space in my enclosed residential garage, my 2025 BMW X6 failed to detect a fixed concrete structural column directly in its path. Rather than braking or alerting me (the driver) to the obstacle, the vehicle accelerated into the column, causing rear bumper damage. The contact owns a 2021 BMW X6. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact shifted into park while the vehicle was in motion to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. On three separate occasions the back doors of the truck opened while the car was at speed. The first time (1/20/26) it was the passenger-side back door. No one was sitting in the car aside from the driver. Driver noticed the door ajar light come on after being at speed and then looked back to see the back door slightly opened, then pulled over and closed it. This issue of the Starter not functioning properly was identified by the manufacturer and brought to my attention through their correspondence. Later confirmed on the NHSTA website. To date, no fix has been made available.
